Motivation:
Pornography plays an important role in the lives of many people. A study shows that 71% of men and 26% of women in Germany consume pornographic content. Although pornography is a widespread phenomenon, the topic is often taboo. The portrayals in mainstream productions rarely correspond to reality, yet some behaviors manifest themselves in people's own sexual lives.

fi*ktion aims to initiate a collective discussion of the topic by making visitor reflect on the boundaries between their own reality and the representations in pornography.

Practices and Processes:

  1. Research into the sociological background to the use of Internet pornography and the behavior of the people who consume it.
  2. Data research, which revealed that there is no representative data on perceptions and behaviors.
  3. Definition of objectives: an interactive installation that encourages people to engage with the taboo subject of pornography and at the same time collects data that is not yet available and reflects the mood of society.
  4. Brainstorming with the glitch metaphor and subsequent concretization of the idea through material tests and construction plans.
  5. Finalization/implementation.
